Test your brain ANSWERS

RIDDLE 5 IS AMAZING. IT SHARPENS THOSE GENES IN YOUR BRAIN AND STALLS ALZHEIMER'S FOR YEARS!!

  1. A murderer is condemned to death. He has to choose between three rooms. The first is full of raging fires, the second is full of assassins with loaded guns, and the third is full of lions that haven't eaten in 3 years. Which room is safest for him? --> ANS: The third room. Lions that haven't eaten in three years are dead. That one was easy, right?
  2. A woman shoots her husband. Then she holds him under water for over 5 minutes. Finally, she hangs him. But 5 minutes later they both go out together and enjoy a wonderful dinner together. How can this be? --> ANS: The woman was a photographer. She shot a picture of her husband, developed it, and hung it up to dry (shot; held under water; and hung).
  3. What is black when you buy it, red when you use it, and gray when you throw it away? --> ANS: Charcoal, as it is used in barbecuing.
  4. Can you name three consecutive days without using the words Wednesday, Friday, or Sunday? --> ANS: Sure you can name three consecutive days, yesterday, today, and tomorrow!
  5. This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious as to just how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it. It looks so ordinary and plain that you would think nothing was wrong with it. In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is highly unusual though. Study it and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit, you might find out. Try to do so without any coaching! (Hint: guess an alphabet) --> ANS: The letter e, which is the most common letter used in the English language, does not appear even once in the paragraph. How did you do?

Bravo! Bravo! Check out who's the winner!

Alice got 2 out of 5 corrects.

Credit goes to Val, who got the most difficult one correct. Guess you can't fool a lecturer especially an English lecturer!

Thumbs up for both of you.

As for Jimmy and I, we got nothing. =.= Too old dy, I guess. We may get Alzheimer soon...oh dear :(

My heart goes to Mira

IMPORTANT TO ALL PARENTS AND PARENTS-TO-BE!

I just read this heart-breaking news at my lunch break today and wanted to share with you all.

It was such a tragic accident that no parents expect or even though of. I felt really sorry for her. Such a cute baby angel and yet she caught we-thought-a-harmless bug. Felt so sorry for her parents.

T___T

Please do read this article even though you're busy or you're yet a parent. Share it with your loved ones.

Did I kill my baby with a kiss? How an anguished mother didn't discover the danger of the common cold sore virus until it was too late...

26

It was about 5:45 am when I was woken up by two small hands slapping me face a few times. A good wake up call. He’s hungry and waking me up so that I can make his milk. Blessed~~~

6:45 am: Got him a fresh nappy after he finished his milk then went to living room to play with him until the next nap time – about 2-3 hours later. On the TV...then...only then I realised that the clock is adjusted one hour backward today (daylight savings time) =.= So, the actual time I woke up was 4:45 am. Fortunately, it wasn't long until AJ's asleep so we’re get back to bed around 8am. Ahhhhh~~~~ continue my beauty sleep.

That's the birthday present I got from my son...

Yesh....It’s 26th today and I’m 26. I know I can’t hide it from you guys. Even if I can, not for long due to its restricted time. I’m getting older year by year T___T ...but wiser indeed *wink* even though I just had 4 wisdom teeth taken out.

Looking back…

I once foretold my so-called future plan to my secondary school buddies that I wanted to concentrate on my studies then career, get married by the age of 26, mother of at least 2 (a boy and a girl) by 30. I was still single until I started college. Because no one likes me T___T Am I really that ugly?

When I furthered my study to college at KL, Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia, I knew I will work at KL after study.

Now – the real fact…

I’m married to my first lover at 23 and a mother at 25. Guess I’m not that ugly anyway – to be able to marry at quite young age. I’m working with a UK company since graduating from University of Plymouth. I was really fortunate, honestly, to be able to study in UK, graduated with flying colours and even managed to secure a permanent job before I even graduated.

Lessons learnt. Never foretell a thing even if you’re a fortune teller. OK…Enough the history and craps...

***

It’s just another day of the year which I’ve been celebrating with Jimmy for the last 5 years in UK. You see…Our birthdays are just 6 days apart and we always celebrated them together. #

Boy...oh boy...this year is different. So special that I think I won’t forget. It’s my first birthday celebration not just as a wife but also a mother. Celebrating my birthday first time with my son. It felt like…..erm…like….how to say it…it felt like I’m out of hands! You see, I used to get to do anything that I want, eat when I want and have two very free hands to myself all the time. Now...It’s AJ and mostly AJ. Guess that’s what mom has to sacrifice, isn’t it?

Hey, btw, I’ve been breathing for a quarter of the century.

Jimmy asked last weekend, “Dear, your birthday is coming soon. How do you want to celebrate it?” I know…I know…You see, Jimmy is not a romantic person. He’s not the type of a person that brings his partner with surprises. And I’m used to it already. Hah…I’m married to a non-romantic person. So what! That’s not a big problem anyway. As long as he’s not a wife-beater, bully, womaniser, drug dealer or gambler, I’m fine with it. The most important thing is he’s a family man.

Sorry, I got carried away again~~~~ Right, back to the question...I responded to Jimmy, “I don’t know, to be honest”. I know it’s a big day for me but somehow I’m out of idea of on how to celebrate it knowing how special it is. I thought, maybe a dinner outside. It’s a birthday celebration dinner for Jimmy and I actually, with AJ of course this year. So we will say to each other, “Happy Birthday, dear”.

Jimmy suggested hosting a small party with close friends around. As you know a cake plays the most important part and if there’s one we need, we’d go to the one we favoured the most currently in Plymouth. It has to be booked 5 days early. And b y the time we decided, it was too late for order the cake. T___T

So, how did I actually celebrate the big day? Don’t get =.=. It’s in fact a dinner outside. A lunch at Water Dragon Buffet yesterday. Our favourite restaurant for the moment. Thumbs up to the service, food and reasonable price. Eat all you want…..Photos…photos..check it out…Btw, forget diet this weekend.

It’s my real birthday tonight. We had home-made dinner at home. Wahaha…just the three of us. Nice…quiet…birthday dinner. Jimmy's making his own lasagne for the very first time.

sounds promising eh...

& curry chicken...yum yum

Very delicious. We're are all very full tonight. AJ had his favorite cereal and full as well...

I took the photos all the time that I forgot to take some of meself. =.= Here're some self-taking photos. Don't mind the qualities....

I’m not disappointed to be honest. I’m grateful with what I have now and pleased to be able to celebrate with my love ones. Well, not everyone here, our family is not around. T___T Where’re my parents, in-laws, brothers, sisters? Don’t get panic la..it’s not the end of the world.

Before I sign off, I would like to drop a few points to say my thanks to you...
  • God - for all this beautiful gifts
  • My parents - for their love and endless supports
  • Jimmy, my partner whom I’m going to spend the rest of my life with, for his continuous patience & support to build a comfortable family together and provide the best for AJ
  • My family including my in-laws, brothers & sisters, brothers-in-laws & sisters-in-laws
  • My supportive friends – who saved me from being left out in hospital after dental surgery 3 weeks ago and those who has been there for me (although not physically there but their wishes has also played an important part)

BEHOLD….as party is not yet cancelled. Don’t forget it is Jimmy’s birthday in 6 days. So, we’ll still be hosting a party for him. What should I cook? Woot~~~ Can't wait!

And oh…pls regards photos uploaded here as photos of the week. It’s my birthday after all so it’s all about me. Though not much photos of me =="

Diet begins tomorrow till Jimmy's birthday....6 days to get rid all the fat I have been consuming this 2 days.

New look

Check out our new flat. We’re still in the same flat la…but we’ve rearranged the furniture around a bit for a new look. It took us (well, mostly Jimmy) 3 days to complete because we only managed to do it in the evening after work and dinner. *Blessed*

Basically, we’ve moved the unused double bed in the second room to our bedroom. So, we have a big bed (2 double bed) bigger than the king size bed…whoosh~~~ I wished we have done this earlier so that Alice can sleep with us on a proper bed rather than sleeping on the futon sofa throughout her holiday. Sorry Alice~~~

Anyway, without any doubt, our bedroom couldn’t fit in with AJ’s cot bed and baby cradle and the second double bed. So, we’ve dissembled AJ’s baby cradle since he don’t like it and got so used sleeping on the bed. AJ sleeps with us in the middle. The cot bed is now in the living room – AJ’s play area. He can then crawl on the cot bed instead of crawling on the cold floor. What a brilliant idea!

The second bedroom is now a store room/utility room/Jimmy’s play room. When Jimmy has his friend’s over, they can play and drink in that room. No smoking in the flat though! The room is now named as play room. Not bad eh!

Oh…and If we’ve guests staying over, they can sleep with us if they don’t mind or use the futon sofa bed in the living room. Sorted.

Let me know what you think.
Our new living room - tried flash and lights on, still too dark..sorry ~~~
The futon sofa bed
AJ seems doesn't like to be in there
Get me out of hereeeee~~~~~

The bedroom - super wide bed - 2 double bed..
& AJ is sleeping on it
Blessed~~~~
The 2nd bedroom / play room - looks like store room

***

Updates: AJ
Especially for those who want to check out on AJ’s well-being, he’s doing great except that he’s catching a little bit cold. Very naughty. He knows you have the intention to leave the room whenever you left him sitting at the play area. As he senses that, you’ll start hearing screaming and crying. He’ll make sure that you never leave his sight. Checking you’re beside him every seconds. Gosh~~~

As you know AJ crawls to basically anywhere he can reach and stand up using every reachable piece of furniture for support. What’s the next learning stage?

He’s now busy learning to walk using our sofa for support. We’re encouraging him to practice as often as possible by attracting him to reach an object he fancies. Can’t wait to see him walking sideways soon..well aided of course. Haha…

Could he be start walking independently by his first birthday? Ooooo *finger-crossed*

Baby never stops learning eh~~~

He’s not afraid to strangers as much as he did before since he went to nursery. But he has his own preference of whom to carry him though. Only want to be carried by those he acknowledged. When we hang out with Sophie last time, he totally rejects Sophie when my hands are tight. Poor Sophie…

He also responds well to music. Moves his body front to back to front several times when we sings or hymns or plays a song especially the Ooh-Aah by Grits feat. Toby Mac. It’s one of the sound track on my mobile. I always play it every morning to distract him when I need to make up.

And oh…he knows how to clap hand. He’s so cuteeeee whenever he did that. Wait till I got this on video when there’s the chance.

Also…Peek-a-boo….He loves peek-a-boo games…

Get well soon, my dearest.

Oh yes, it was Breast Cancer Care on Wednesday and AJ took part in this lovely small activity at nursery. Sweet~~~

Jimmy and I?

Believe it or not, we’re each other’s first love. Well, not many believed that it’s Jimmy’s first. Reason being it contradicts too much to his characteristics.

We’re having steam boat at Rudolf’s house the other day together with Rudolf and his brothers and some new students whom just arrived from Malaysia few weeks ago. Then this conversation between us, the new friend, Clifford (I hope I got his name right because it’s still new to me) and me took place:
Clifford: Were both of you from the same hometown?
Me: Yes
Clifford: Childhood sweetheart since primary school?
Me: No
Clifford: So, how did you guys got together?
Me: Well…(paused)…Jimmy fell in love one of my best friend at first
Crowd: Oooooo………. (suspiciously)
Me: Then I snatched him from her (followed by evil grin)
Silence…
Clifford: Then, how’s your best friend?
Me: We remained as best friend
Crowd: Wahhhhhhh…….. (surprised)
Clifford: Did you invite her to your wedding reception?
Me: Yes
Clifford: wah…Then is she coming?
Me: Yes…why not?
Rudolf snapped in…
Rudolf: Then, I will be able to tell who she is on that day. She might turn red or uncomfy
Me: haha…we shall see
Clifford: wah…I didn’t know that you’re such a sinful person
Rudolf: So, Jimmy couldn’t run away now
Clifford: haha…yeah…now with AJ, how can he run away?
Me: Yeah…He’s mine forever

Will you believe it if you’re Clifford? haha…Clifford is such a lovely guy who'll ask questions when in doubt. Lots of questions in a day! You’ll normally get frustrated when someone asked you lotsa questions in a day but he’s such a funny innocent guy that you won’t get annoyed with him. He is right, you know. Ask questions when in doubt! Else you’ll ended up knowing nothing.

OMG, I lied too much that I think he actually believes it. Jimmy was quite shocked when I disclosed a fake story. Even Alice has labelled me as a lying mother “wolf” already – from the boy who cried for wolf children’s story. T____T

But I couldn’t bring myself to tell you guys the love story behind yet. Haha… it’s not the time yet and still very precious to me. Well, probably because it’s our first love. Hey, not many know gets together for so long and build a small family from their first love. Are you? But I can tell you the moments before that…Btw, it’s a true story…THE REAL ONE! *beg*

We barely knew each other in primary school. Actually, we’re in the same class in primary year 6 but I didn’t remember much. The only thing I could remember was I sat next with James, Jimmy’s best friend for the whole academy year. James was so hilarious that I couldn’t forget his stupid actions in the class.

But Jimmy remembered me carrying a thick dictionary to school everyday. I myself didn’t know why the heck I’m so stupid burdening myself bringing such a heavy dictionary to school? There wasn’t any reading dictionary session even. An act showing I’m a very hardworking student? That’s a really stupid act. Very geeky and stupid! You think so too, I bet. T_____T

We went to the same secondary school after but were arranged to different classes not until 4 years later. But that was just for a few months. The final year before secondary school, we chose the same subject (by accident) and only then, we started knew each other. Again for a short period of time due to the subject held twice a week and over the academic year only.

After secondary school, we furthered our studies to different colleges but remain contacted. Getting closer not long after. Then there it goes, the love story began and continue until today

~~~~ slowly carried away by the sweet memories ~~~~
Woot~~~ Exactly 3 months to our lovely holiday…..Whosh!
FIVE! Give me five!
I’m super...duper…really…very…utterly ecstatic. Wahaha… Good news! Actually it’s great! *wailing contentedly*
Yes! Yes! Yes! I can’t believe it! It’s really happening. Wahaha….
Ever since I got pregnant, I’ve boomed into size 14 from size 8 ish. Then, down to size 12 after birth. It was hard for me to lose all those unnecessary fats because of…ok I admit… my laziness *sigh* and coping with my demanding son.
After 9 months maternity leave, I didn’t exercise much and am still size 12. So, 2 weeks before I went back to work, with my big size, I had to get meself new working clothes – all size 12. It was quite depressing really that I look fat and short when trying size 12 clothes. Limited to some colours and styles as well as they make me look even more stupid.
I started to envy those in good shape looks so good in any styles.
Anyway, we went to Matalan, a big clothing range store in Crownhill, a few miles from the city centre last weekend. We thought that maybe we could get some fresh ideas for our holiday prep. I bought a …. read this carefully …size 8…size 8 (EIGHTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT) top and jean.
First, I thought…nah..it could be just because size 8 in Matalan is the standard size 10/12. So, it was dismissed within seconds.
Then hor…..wahaha…wahaha….I bet you are thinking what I’m going to say next.
On Monday I was wearing my size 12 working trousers which I bought about 2 months ago. Throughout my working hours, I felt really awkward. I know I’ve lost a bit of weight since the surgery, so I’ve tighten its waist line before I return to work last week. But this Monday, I kept pulling my trousers up whenever it nearly falls down. Hey, my butt can’t be seen by public. Too embarassing~~~~~ :-S. “Is it me or is it the trousers getting bigger?”
The next day, I decided that I’m not going to make myself look graceless at work. It looks so unpro. So, I thought I could give a try on my pre-pregnancy size 8 slacks. And… it FITS! It is! I’m not dreaming! No squeezing or holding breath whatsoever! YIPEEE!
You might still remembered that I bought a dress a week ago for my wedding which then turned out to be more suitable for Chinese New Year dress. The dress was from Debenhams. Well I had that returned yesterday. I love that dress to be honest, but I saw another one which obviously I love more (my favourite so far) and is in a smaller size. Of coz I fit well and look fabulous (agreed by Alice and Jimmy).
So, with 30 days return rights, I have exchanged it with this new lovely dress and just pay £5 more. The dress was sold for £100, reduced to £50 and further down to £30. I have actually decided to get the new dress on Tuesday but I wanted to wait until Friday (my day off) so that I could try it on to make sure.
At first I thought I had to take that dirty dress when I fall in love on it on Tuesday. The only size 8 dress has two dots of stains and I was hoping that it could be cleaned easily if I am the owner. Then…hor…when I went up there, there’s another size 8 very clean of the same dress. My eyes went blinked~~~ Without wasting any seconds, I quickly grab that dress and of we (AJ and me) went into the dressing room before I regret.
Wahaha…I have no regrets….well, unless I saw a better one. Now, you might be asking why do I just buy the new dress without returning the old one. Humm….well, let’s just that I’m looking to spend my cash on few more clothes.
Woot~~~ I’M FLYING HOME IN 96 DAYS! 100 DAYS TO CHINESE NEW YEAR! 104 DAYS TO MY WEDDING! With my new lovely figure~~~~~~
Diet! Whoosh…whoosh….
